This beaded Bamileke stool was handmade by the Bamileke people of Cameroon. His nobleman's headdress bent back under the seat, a figure crouches in an attitude of respect to form this stool's throne column. The Fon's politically powerful mother customarily sat on a throne like this, at her son's left side. The Fon is the title of the Bamileke tribal chief, who is the leader of the village.
